چکیده

Bone metabolism is characterized by two opposite activities: the formation of new bone by osteoblasts and the degradation of old bone by the osteoclasts. Osteoporosis is a disease in which subtle modi cations of bone remodeling can result in a substantial loss of bone over a prolonged period of time. The needs for non-invasive techniques that can be applied more widely and repeated several times in a single patient explain the development of markers of bone turnover that are measured in blood and urine. The prognostic value of parameters as risk indexes for osteoporosis is not enough. This makes it possible to use genetic markers, which together with already existing risk indexes will improve the identi cation of individuals with higher osteoporosis risk. The future development of genetic studies in osteoporosis will proceed in two major directions: identi cation of further candidate genes, their interaction with each other and their application to de ned diseases of bone metabolism.

Effects of aerobic and resistance trainings on relation between blood biochemical parameters and body composition with bone turnover markers in overweight men

Introdution: The cells rolled in the formation of bone, regulated glucose metabolism, and increased insulin secretion from pancreatic beta cells and modulated the insulin resistance. Therefore, the present study aimed to study the effects of aerobic and resistance exercises on relation between blood biochemical parameters and body composition with bone turnover markers in overweight men. Metho...

Relation between Estrogen and Progesterone Receptor Status with p53, Ki67 and Her-2 Markers in Patients with Breast Cancer

Background: Breast cancer is the most common cancer in women, containing approximately one third of all illnesses in women. Assessment of molecular markers is valuable in predicting the outcome of disease and decision making for optimal treatment. The purpose of this study was to determine the relationship between estrogen and progesterone receptors with Her-2, Ki67, P53, and clinicopathologica...

P-238: Lack of Association of Estrogen Receptor Polymorphisms with Male Infertility

Background: Estrogen is recognized as one of the significant regulator of spermatogenesis. Estrogens are synthesized in the male reproductive system (sertoli and leydig cells). Estrogen function is mediated by estrogen receptors (ER-α or ER-β). Some studies have suggested an association between single nucleotide polymorphisms (SNPs) rs2234693 (ESR1 pvuII C>T), rs1801132 (ESR1 325 C->G) of ERα g...

Effects of Oral Isotretinoin on Serum Vitamin D Metabolites and Other Biochemical Markers of Bone Turnover and Calcium Homeostasis in Severe Acne

Background: Few studies have investigated on vitamin D metabolites Serum levels, and calcium homeostasis in humans receiving retinoids, despite a substantial amount of literature concerning retinoid-induced osteoporosis in animals. We prospectively measured vitamin D metabolites serum levels and calcium homeostasis and radiographic bone changes in short course treatment with oral isotreti...

Background: Rheumatoid arthritis (RA) is the most common inflammatory arthritis affecting 0.5 to 1% of the general population worldwide. The cause of RA remains unknown. In active RA, bone turnover markers change in serum and urine before the appearance of erosions in radiography. In this study, we compared RA activity index with bone turnover marker levels in serum of RA patients.   Methods:...
